2nd time in hospital for pre-term labor. I have a few questions.From: Chelsey (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 7 Apr 2001 17:54:54 -0500 (CDT)
I was in the hospital again yesterday for the second time with pre-term contractions (first time at 28 weeks, I am now 31w6d). I had this awful backache and menstrual like cramps for 2 days so I called the OB on call and he sent me to L&D. Sure enough they were every 6 minutes and this time the nurse said the outer cervix was dialated to 1 and the inner was closed (not sure what this means). I was given terbutaline and after 6 hours they sent me home on bedrest this weekend until I see my Ob next week. I have brethine to take at home when I get the crampy feeling but I still have the backache. What could be causing this? There is not an infection that they can find (I am on amoxicillan for sinuses) and I was not dehydrated or doing anything strenous. I guess I am just looking for an answer, it scares me especially since I did not have this with my first pregnancy. Thanks.
