Re: Counselling for Termination

My doctor is very against doing amnio... due to inaccuracies and he doesn't believe in counselling for abortion. However, I have a friend who has a 6 year old son who was born with Downs Syndrome. She has 3 other children born healthy and throughout her pregnancy (even after amnio...) she was told that her last son was perfectly normal. When he was born, and she found out he had Downs Syndrome, she was very upset that the tests did not tell her otherwise. So, in answer to your question, the tests are not 100% accurate, I have heard of cases too where the child was said to have birth defects but the child came out perfectly normal. Do not trust all the test results!
