We used to give provera as a pregnancy test. If there wass no bleeding after taking 5 days worth, a pregnancy existed. We gave it to millions of women. It does not cause miscarriage. There is a question as to whether or not it might double the incidence of a rare birth defect from one in a million to one in a half million. The chances of provera causing a problem is really exceedingly small.
