Provera Pregnancy????From: nlf (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 5 Apr 2001 18:30:17 -0500 (CDT)
Approximately 10 weeks ago, my daughter in law saw a new OBGYN. Since the birth of her first baby 18 months ago, she has been having heavy and irregular periods. She told by the dr. that her uterus was enlarged and tilted and she would not be getting pregnant any time soon. He prescribed Provera without taking a blood test or doing a pregnancy test. She took 3 of these pills before we advised her stongly not to take them in case she was pregnant. I read that if she were pregnant, she would miscarry. She bled quite a bit at that time. She then got in to another specalist office and was given a vaginal ultasound. This showed no pregnancy. Her appointment to see the doctor is not for 3 weeks. Well, in the meantime, it has become quite obvious that she is pregnant. She went to the lab and had blood taken and it came back positive that she is definitely pregnant. It has been 8 weeks since she took the Provera. She looks very pregnant. More than 8 weeks. Could this be possible. Could something be wrong with the baby. She is already showing and looks very pregnant. During her first pregnancy, she had a period for 2 months into her pregnancy. Her last normal period was Jan. 20th. She took 3 Provera beginning on Jan. 28th. She was given a vaginal ultrasound on Feb. 3rd. Knowing all of this, how pregnant could she be?
