I had gestational diabetes with my son and at my 30 week ultrasound his estimated weight was 4.5-5 lbs. I know that ultrasound weights can be wrong by up to 15%, but for me they were exactly right. My son weighed 8 lb. 6.5 oz when he was born at 37 weeks. If you figure your baby will grow 1/2 lb. per week until he's born, that would still only make him/her 8 1/2 lb--big, but not extremely large. The main effect (as I understand it) of gestational diabetes is large babies. Good luck. Your doctor may decide to induce early if he or she thinks your baby is too large.
