Re: ultrasound - baby weightFrom: Sarah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Mar 2001 19:01:33 -0600 (CST)
This is my experience... I went into preterm labor at 30 weeks and they told me to expect a 3-3.5 pound baby ... and then said that is what the ultrasound I had about 30.4 weeks indicated that too. I had the baby at 31.2 weeks and he was 4 lb 13 oz (my dates were right on since I used fertility drugs and charts etc. so he was definately only 31.2 weeks).... anyway the neonatalogist told me that a baby at 31.2 weeks weighing 4 lb 13 oz may have been about 9 to 9.5 pounds at birth. So based on my own experience at 30 weeks, 3-3.5 pounds is a good weight.... and ultrasounds can be off for weight by quite a bit it would seem... mine was off about a pound or more.
