sun exposure and NTD's

I've read recently about studies that suggest exposure to UV rays could cause a reduction in the amount of folate in women's bodies, and that too much sun may increase your risk of having a baby with a NTD. My first baby died in utero of a severe NTD last year. I never thought about this before, but I have very fair skin and got sunburned a LOT when growing up. When I was in college and a few times after I went to tanning beds so I could get color, but I stopped all of that about 5 years ago. Could my lifetime exposure to all those rays have contributed to my baby's demise? I'm not looking to blame myself, but the doctor's couldn't explain it. I'm pregnant again now and took 4mg of folic acid for 6 months prior to conception. But in light of this new information I've read, I'm just wondering.
