I have always called my doctor when I was in doubt about something that was happening to me... I am sure they answer lots of questions and concerns like yours. With my first pregnancy I had something similar around 20 weeks... everything seemed to be seizing up and my back was hurting like crazy etc. I called and the doc was more than willing to see me... it ended up being some major stretching and apparently some of my muscles were just spasming. I can tell you at the time I was very worried and it was relief to hear that is what it was. Since I am not a doctor I don't have any idea if it could be anything else.
