Pregnant again after miscarriage, now spotting/cramping. Pituitary microadenoma contributing cause? From: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 25 Mar 2001 12:02:34 -0600 (CST)
I am a 37-yo female. I miscarried in December of this year at 5 1/2 weeks gestation. I am pregnant again, presently 5 weeks gestation. I had a serum hCG (qualitative) 5 days ago. For the past 3 days I have had nearly continuous cramping, ranging from mild to very strong, generally midabdomen in my uterus (not one-sided pain). I have been spotting for 3 days, which varies from brown, to pink, to occasionally red. Never enough flow to stain a pad, I just notice it on the toilet paper. I am terrified I will miscarry again. My OB's nurse just said to wait, and call them again tomorrow (Monday). I have a pituitary microadenoma (prolactin secreting) - could this be affecting my pregnancies? Could it cause me to miscarry? Does this bleeding/cramping mean I will likely miscarry? With my prior miscarriage, I noticed the first bleeding then immediately the flow started and I bled tremendously for several days. I had 2 regular periods after that before becoming pregnant. Will my age deem me a high risk patient? Thank you.
