with an HCG level of 3000, and ceratinly iwth one of > 5000, a heartbeat should be seen. This is a missed abortion -- where the pregnancy has stopped developing but you haven't miscarried yet.

I'm sorry -- I've had 2 missed abortions and 1 where we saw the heartbeat for a couple of weeks before I miscarried, so I know how disappointed you must be
