6w5d gest. sack seen on u/s, no yolk sackFrom: Lise (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 21 Mar 2001 12:06:44 -0600 (CST)
This is IVF cycle#1 for me. My hcg started out very low at 24, 13 days past transfer, but continued to double (115%) every other day until this monday which was 6w5d. Hcg 3027, progesterone 36.0 (if still doubling, my hcg should have been aprox. 10,000). No yolk sack was seen on ultrasound this day, just gestational sack which measured 7.7mm x 4.5mm. I return tomorrow for another ultrasound. My MD said that is we don't visualize yolk sack by tomorrow, blighted ovum will be diagnosed. Q1. I read that blighted ovum should not be diagnosed until sack reaches 20mm. Is that your opinion? Q2. I am assuming at this point that this will not be a viable pregnancy. Can you explain what the next step may be? Is D&C an option? Will I have to be hospitalized for this procedure? Thank you in advance for all your help, your assistance keeps those of us in "probable miscarriage limbo" afloat!
