overreacting?From: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 13 Mar 2001 13:50:37 -0600 (CST)
I am 28 weeks pg with my third pregnancy. I have numerous health problems and am currently taking meds for them. I also have a history of preterm labor and toxemia with prior pregnancies. Last week I saw my dr and he said that my heart problem nor my asthma was under control. He put me on two steroid inhalers and prednisone for my asthma and took me off the albuterol due to increased pulse rate. I have a history of atrial fibrilation during pg. Needless to say after telling me all this and giving me more meds he said he would see me in six weeks. To me that seems insane. No UA or pelvic can be done to see if history is going to repeat itself. I am currently being treated for chronic hypertension so the toxemia worries me. Not to mention the risks of all the meds I am taking. I see a perinatologist tomorrow and intend to ask her what her opinion on the matter is. Unfortunately she usually says talk to your regular dr. I see her to make sure the growth of the baby is acceptable due to chronic conditions and meds. Am I overreacting? I just now how the past two pregnancies were and don't want a repeat. Are there any specific questions I should ask the peri? I know going in with knowledge is better than being totally confused. Any advice is very much appreciated. Thanks in advance
