Weight Gain & Pre-EclampsiaFrom: Alison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 8 Mar 2001 18:05:23 -0600 (CST)
Help!!! I am ballooning up and I don't understand what it means. I see many references to sudden weight gain as an indicator for Pre-E, well, we KNOW I have Pre-E so what does the weight itself mean? My story... IDGDM since 12 wks, Pre-E dx'd at 22.5 wks & on bedrest since. Net loss of 1# from pre-pregnancy weight at 28 wks, never more than a 2# pound fluctuation over 2-4 weeks. At 30 wks gained 5# since the visit 2 wks prior. At 30.3 wks gained an additional 4#, now, at 31 wks ANOTHER 4# for a total gain of 13# in 3 wks. (At a total net gain of 12# since pre-pregnancy weight.) My activity has increased if anything with the recent start of 2x weekly BPPs & NSTs. My diet has not changed. My blood sugars seem like they've always been. I definately notice SOME edema, but not drastic tree-trunk legs like with last pgcy. My BP's are staying okay, /80's & few /90's (diastolically) every day. Last week I was doing /90's with the 1 or 2 /100's. My baseline diastolic is mid 60's. Wouldn't a weight gain of that much show up as big, huge, puffy hands & feet? My face is a bit puffy, but not extreme. Aaarrgghhh!!! I hate this pre-eclampsia. Thanks so much, Aison R.
