Dear Marge RN,

You make some very interesting points. Indeed, some of my answers may very well be quite concise. You may not be aware that you are even reading responses at all because we donate our time to help others.

Between Saturday night and Sunday night, I responded to over 140 questions and posts on 3 forums here. It is certainly not your problem that I choose to give up a Saturday night and full day on Sunday to help others. It is also not your problem that with over 140 questions to respond to, I chose to answer them all to the best of my ability with the time allotted rather than answer many less but in greater depth.

People have the right and I even ask people to write again if need be. "Hope this helps and write back anytime for more information."

I'm sure there are internet sites for teaching various medical topics and interactive learning will be a wonderful tool in the near future. Right now, of course, we're somewhat limited by our computer capabilities, or, at least, I am.

People are free to come and ask questions or go and find other sources of medical information. Many posts are, unfortunately, not amenable to internet responses due to insufficient history or inadequate information in other parameters but they need to know they were not ignored.

If enough people feel the way you do, we may need to rethink the way we do the forums and choose a few questions for more extensive explanations rather than trying to give opinions to people who seem to need them "right away". Who would be the one to decide? Do we eliminate the woman who is too embarassed to call her doctor or the one who can't get her doctor on the phone. Maybe the ones that aren't gynecologic or the ones about their husbands. I would feel badly to have to eliminate any of them.
