Movement & nueral defectsFrom: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 5 Mar 2001 08:05:49 -0600 (CST)
If on an ultrasound (13wks) a baby is moving (quite a bit)both legs and arms, does this help rule out drastic cases of spinal bifida? The movements seem to be controlled, even thumb sucking. I am more worried about nueral defects because I am overweight. I have decided not to take the AFP, because I am at greater risk for false postives and could not take it emotionally. (I have some bleeding, and due to PCOS my dates are not very accurate) Also, in an advanced Ultrasound at 18-19 weeks, could problems with the skull (enchepholy?) be detected? If you couldn't tell, this is 1st pregnancy and I am really nervous
