Second ultrasound to look at baby's heart?From: Terri (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 3 Mar 2001 04:53:06 -0600 (CST)
Had my ultrasound at 20 weeks and was told by tech and by OB that everything looked fine. All ultrasounds at my OB's office are reviewed by the high risk OB. The high risk OB has requested that I come back in for a second ultrasound to look at the baby's heart. OB wouldn't speculate on what might have been seen on first ultrasound... telling me chances are that it is nothing and that they prefer to be careful. My thinking is that if it was nothing- they would't need a second ultrasound and therefore, it may be something that I should be concerned with. 2nd ultrasound will go forth at 23 weeks. What types of things could the high risk MD have seen on the 1st ultrasound to require this more detailed view and what does it mean for me/the baby? (My AFP was normal and I am 32 y/o. This is my second pregnancy. First child is age 2 and healthy.) Thanks.
