Hi Jenny, I also had a d&c and while it does remove the tissue, it does not make the hcg that is in your system disappear. You will not ovulate until your hcg is "essentially negative" which is generally less than 5. Your dr probably did not monitor your hcg because generally with a d&c your levels return to normal and you have a regular period 2 to 6 weeks after the procedure. If you call your ob and ask for a quantitative chg test that will tell you how high yours is. You will then need a second quantitative hcg usually 48 hours later to see if it goes up (indicating possible new pregnancy) or goes down (indicating old hcg) or stays the same (indicating there may be some tissue left from the d&c).
