Pulled muscle in ribFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 28 Feb 2001 08:42:11 -0600 (CST)
I am now 16 weeks pregnant with my second child. About a month ago, I had the flu and managed to pull a muscle in my ribs. After the flu, I got a bad cold with a cough that just wouldn't go away. The cold is almost gone, but the muscle in my ribs just SCREAMS with deep breaths, coughs, sneezes, etc., and rather than getting better it seems to be hurting more every day. I visited my primary care doctor last week who suggested not lifting anything - especially my 19 month-old son, heat or cold packs (whichever made the pain better) and generally taking it easy with that side of my body. My ob (and primary care phys) said that this will take a while to heal, but it just doesn't seem to be getting better. I pulled a muscle in the same area in the 3rd trimester of my first pregnancy, but nowhere near this bad. Is there any other suggestion for at least being more comfortable until this heals a little??
