Re: Question about medication and infertiltyFrom: Vera (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 16 Feb 2001 18:52:16 -0600 (CST)
Dear Kim,
>I have crohns disease and am on asacol, cipro, purthinol, rowasa enemas Asacol contains 5-aminosalicylate only (without sulfapyridin), so it won't affect your fertility. Long-term studies in animals have not been performed to evaluate the Remicade's effects on potential impairment of fertility in male and female animals. Ciprofloxacin will not affect your fertility, but it may cause fetal damage. As for purthinol, I couldn't find any information on this medication in my drug database. Perhaps you have misspelled it ?
>definitely want another baby. My GI dr. has discussed with me about I agree that you should consult him/her before you try to conceive again, since some of your medications may be injurious to the fetus (unborn baby).
