LOTS of BH contrax= more likely to deliver earlier?From: abaxter (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 15 Feb 2001 15:38:07 -0600 (CST)
Hi... I am almost 35 weeks, first pregnancy, and I have lots and lots of braxton hicks. My dr gave me Brethine for this, but I only use it if they are every 5 minutes for an hour or more. In general, I get them at least every 15 minutes, if not sooner, off and on all day. They do not hurt but are increasing in intensity-sometimes seems to squeeze my diaphragm or something. Rest and water help some, but not much as I get further along. My cervix is currently 26mm long, down from 30mm at 32 weeks ago. Not dilated yet. I am a little paranoid that my extremely active BH contractions mean that I'll have trouble going to term in future pregnancies or even in this one. Also, is this more commong for very athletic women? I have pretty low body fat and have been very active w/running and swimming for years. Does that make all of my muscles--including uterus--more responsive to activity?? Thanks for your feedback, again.
