confused, possible ectopic and blighted ovumFrom: alison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 13 Feb 2001 18:49:59 -0600 (CST)
I was 5 weeks pregnant when I started having cramps. Then at 6 weeks, I started bleeding and cramping and went to the ER. My HCG was 690 and the ultrasound showed a sac, but they said that they couldn't see anything, but it could be just too early. My HCG went down to 630 and the 450 two days later. They told me that I had a sac but no fetus, and had a miscarriage. I then got my HCG a week later, and it was 1240. They thought that I might be ectopic. A week later, I got a vaginal us, and they could not see anything in the uterus, not even a sac, and nothing anywhere else, including the tubes. I did have a cyst on my R ovary. HCG was 990. My HCGs every 2 days were then 1450, 863, 785. I also continued spotting brown blood, and some fresh red blood. I then recieved methotrexate and my doctor believes that I just have a mass of cells, (probably never developed into a fetus) floating around my pelvis. If this is the case, what is it called and did the sperm and egg fertilize? Also, what produces HCG, the placenta or the fetus? I am just wondering what happened. I have read that you can't even see anything before HCGs reach 1200 or 2000, and When I had the ultrasound, my HCG was 990. How do they even no. Everyone tells me that it was completely nonviable anyway, I just want answers. Also, can you tell me what to expect following methotrexate. Thank you for your help, I have read through the archives, but I didn't find anything like this.
