Re: morning sicknessFrom: abaxter (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 12 Feb 2001 17:26:17 -0600 (CST)
I've heard some people claim some success (read about it, dont' know anyone personally) with such things, but by and large it appears that if you are going to have severe morning sickness, there is no way out of it. I believe it is caused by the way your body happens to react to the hormones released by that particular pregnancy. I ate a very protein-packed, healthy diet for years prior to and during early pregnancy, exercised, took vitamins, yada yada yada and STILL managed to get severe morning sickness with gagging and vomitting for the first 18 weeks. I couldn't get off the couch I was so sick. I tried "natural" anti-nausea pills, sea-bands, and even prescription meds, and nothing made it go away. The only things that helped to make life bearable were: altoids mints, tater tots, pringles, hamburgers, Frostie's, cokes or carbonated beverages, and various other unhealthy snacks. I never ate so unhealthy as I did during morning sickness. My standard vegetable/bean/whole grain rice meals were absolutely repulsive to me when I was sick. Wish I could give you miracle cure, but just brace yourself and try some strong mints! :) Of course, give those homeopathic cures a try -- I would've tried almost anything when I was very sick.
