trying to get pregnant

My husband and I have been married just over a year. Since we're soon to be 30, we never used birth control and just took our chances at getting pregnant. Well, after the first few months, we began calculating my ovulation cycle and even bought the predictor kits. Our timing seems to be accurate, but it hasn't happened. My first question is... at what point do you turn to fertility treatments, and my second, a little more graphic... how do you keep the sperm and ejaculate in you after intercourse? I've tried propping up on pillows but eventually it still seems to come out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
