12 Weeks Pregnant/Slight BleedingFrom: Deanne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 11 Feb 2001 08:43:26 -0600 (CST)
I am 12 weeks/1 day pregnant. Other than lots of all-day nausea and vomiting, I have been doing well. I had an ultrasound at 9 weeks, 5 days. We saw the baby moving around, and the heartbeat was great. It measured 174 bpm. Last Monday, I noticed blood on the toilet paper after a b.m. It definitely was vaginal bleeding. It was light but nonetheless very scary. My OB got me right in and did an exam. He could find no source for the bleeding and said everything looked good. He found the baby's heartbeat immediately with the doppler and said I just have some unexplained bleeding. He did not do another ultrasound. Well, almost a week later, the bleeding is back. It is almost identical to last Monday's episode. The on-call nurse told me to stay on complete bedrest today and call my OB first thing in the morning. She said to call her back or go to the ER if it worsens or I start cramping. She said the stress/straining during a b.m. could cause some bleeding or I could have a low-lying placenta. Is this common? This is my first pregnancy, and it worries me to no end. Thanks. I'm sorry this is so long.
