Most often bleeding of this kind comes from a condition clled marginal separation, the edge of the placenta has shifted off teh uterus and can bleed. At this gestational age, there is reasonably good chance the baby would do OK if it had to be delivered because of bleeding. Without knowing the whole history, my comment may be wrong, but I would be inclined to keep her in the hospital.
