Group B StrepFrom: AMDStreiter (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 5 Feb 2001 10:50:18 -0600 (CST)
Early in my 2nd trimester, a very small Groub B Strep colony was found in my urine. I was prescribed Penicillin. They told me at the time that I would be tested at 35 weeks and they fully expected me to test positive, in which case I would take Penicillin again and also be given an antibiotic drip during labor and delivery. At 35 weeks, I tested negative for GBS, and now my doctor tells me there is no reason to take any precaution, even during delivery. Should I be worried? I am thinking about requesting the drip during l&d anyway, especially since my doctor will most likely not be the one on call when I deliver anyway.
