Re: progesteroneFrom: Laura (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Jan 2001 21:56:18 -0600 (CST)
Speaking as a non-medical person, mind you.... Pink spotting can be harmless. I have had it in all of my pregnancies, and it didn't always mean doom. It is definitely worth checking out, and it is never to late to see if progesterone will help, as it won't harm you or the baby. In my first pregnancy, I spotted for 5 months and delivered a healthy, full-term baby. I have also miscarried twice, but in those cases, the spotting was accompanied by increasing bleeding and loss of pregnancy symptoms. My doctor did tell me that it is possible for progesterone to help your body retain a doomed pregnancy, and so there is a possiblity of needing a D & C if that happens. That only happened to me once, but I will chance it and take the progesterone again if I get pregant again. The crinone reduced my spotting much better than compounded vaginal suppositories. I don't know anything about the use of prednisone. A pharmacist told me Crinone is a more accurate dose than the suppositories as well. He also recommended asking about Prometrium, based on his wife's experience with a troubled pregnancy. I really hope that things go well for you. Laura
