I also had a missed m/c and had to have a D&C. I was having strongly positive pregnancy tests up until the day of the D&C, even though the baby had died several weeks earlier. I also wanted to try to conceive soon after, and began to have unprotected sex a week after the op. I did an hpt- KNOWING I wasn't pregnant, just to see what it would read. It was negative. If you are pregnant again the hCG will increase enough to make a difference on the home test after a day or two, so I'd say to retest soon.
