FSH & InfertilityFrom: Sandy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Jan 2001 14:48:07 -0600 (CST)
I am sure hoping someone can shed some light on my situation. I just turned 37 years old and have been seeing an Infertility Specialist since April 2000. I had a laparoscopy in June 2000 where they found scarring on my right fallopian tube, as well as mild endometriosis. My left ovulating. I should also mention that my period runs like clockwork, every 591, which they said was fine. I was about to begin my 3rd round of Follistim last month but had to go on the birth control pill instead because of some cysts. I finished taking the pill about 10 days ago, they did the ultrasound and the cysts are gone. They did my bloodwork and said that my Day 3 FSH is 28. Now my doctor says there is no chance to continue any treatment with that FSH level and I should consider donor egg or adoption. Could the birth control pill have any impact on this reading? I read an article by Dr. Wulf Utian, M.D., PhD., Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology realize it. You need to stop the pills and wait for your hormones to normalize. I would measure it about 3 to 4 weeks later. Any input you may have is greatly appreciated. I feel as though I have just hit a brick wall.
