Cholestasis has an unknown cause, and is characterized by itching, jaundice or both. You have to rule out biliary obstruction. Treatment is targeted to relief of symptoms, antihistamines or steroids for the itching. There is an increased risk of preterm labor (not an issue here) and postpartum bleeding.
