sinus infection and prednisoneFrom: michelle (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Jan 2001 16:10:35 -0600 (CST)
I am currerntly 14 weeks and suffering from a sever case of blocked sinuses...started out as your reg. pregnant stuffy nose, then turned into blocked sinuses which is now turned into a sinus infection...bad headache, my whole face hurts. Anyway I am on heparin injections, and predisone, due to anticardiolipin antibodies and connective tissue problem. That being my history..here is my question(s)...my reg. family dr. gave me a zithromax pack, and flonase which my OB said was safe. However, My family dr said that since I am on predisone(6mg per day) and that I now am sick "THE RULE" is to triple the amount of prednisone for the next three days then double for three then back to normal ammount which is 6mg per day. When I asked my ob about this he said he didn't know and would have to consult with another dr on this. I am going to wait to triple, but do I really need to triple the dose. Will the flonase and zpack be enough for me to get better? Also...can I take sudafed as a decongestant. Thanks so much for your help!!!
