1st Trimester and a Horrible RashFrom: Rachel (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Jan 2001 11:16:03 -0600 (CST)
I'm a 33 year old Asian, pregnant with my first. I'm very healthy and fit. I recently came down with a horrible rash that is so itchy, it keeps me up at nights. It feels like bugs are crawling all over me. Lotions and cremes don't work. Antihistamines help a little, but I don't want to take a lot while pregnant. My MD says it is normal, though rare...not very comforting. I did some interent research and I think I have Pityriasis Rosea (PR) and have found that a lot of pregnant women have suffered through this. It is suppose to NOT harm my baby but I'm very worried. I'm going to take this info to my MD and ask to see a Dermatologist, whom they say will make the diagnosis, which is often missed. They say sun tanning helps, but I don't want to overheat my fetus....I did go to 2 light sessions of 10 minutes and did not break a sweat, but it did seem to help. Does anyone know if Aloe Gel for the skin is OK for pregnant women? I know it has fantastic anti-itch and healing properties...Any help with my situation will help. Thanks!
