Singulair during pregnancy???From: Dee (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 27 Jan 2001 08:48:59 -0600 (CST)
I have mild asthma and am 10 weeks pregnant. My OB and my asthma doctor both say it is safer to take Singulair during pregnancy than to have uncontrolled asthma during pregnancy. (I don't really ever have 'asthma attacks'. I get persistent bronchitis, but I have not had bronchitis since starting Singulair a year and a half ago.) I was honest with my asthma doctor that we were TTC, and she said the Singulair is safe. Now that I am ten weeks pregnant, she has advised me to continue taking it. My OB completely agrees with her. My question is this....is Singulair really safe? My pharmacist said it was a Class B during pregnancy. He said he would feel completely comfortable with his wife taking it while pregnant. The only reason I am concerned is that, all the research I have found says, it hasn't been tested on pregnant women. I know it is very safe in pregnant animals. So, is that an accurate indicator? TIA!!!
