Heartbeat and home doppler (repost -- could a dr. or nurse please answer?)From: Rach (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 25 Jan 2001 17:19:33 -0600 (CST)
I am 8wks 5days. I just rented a home doppler device (with LCD display) and tried it out. The display detected and displayed my own heartbeat, but I am positive I found a second, fainter, much faster heartbeat (I clocked it at 160 with my watch) that did not register on the display. Is this common? Could I have heard my baby's heartbeat without it registering on the display? It was a very regular pulsing sound (quick), that sounded a little like a horse galloping (not too much echo, like on the demonstration tapes they give you, but a definite beat-like sound). Am I experiencing a little too much optimism or should I be thrilled with the results? My symptoms have really subsided lately, so I've been worried...Thanks so much!
