I am a student midwife in Germany, and although i do not know what sort of supplements women in america take during pregnancy, over here almost all pregnant women take magnesium supplements oraly, which is good against all sorts of "cramping" because it relaxes muscles(period, muscle, light preterm labor). Magnesium makes your muscles tired, though. If you take it for normal muscle cramping, its best to take it at night before you go to bed. Ask your OBGYN about if it might be something for you.
