I am a student midwife, and certainly not a real professional yet, but could it be that you are ovulating? Birth control works basically by either preventing ovulation and/or making the uterine and cervical environment "unhealthy" for sperm and egg. I dont have an explanation about why your period is late, other than the fact that maybe having forgotten your pill could have upset your hormones enough to have caused that, or also because of stress, illness, nightshift, a trip somewhere, whatever. The achy feeling in your abdomen is what my abdomen feels like when i ovulate, discharge can be elastic when one ovulates too(elastic discharge is more conducive for sperm motility). Take heart and good luck!
