Dear Cynde,

--
like you i have irregular periods so ovulation can be difficult to
pinpoint especially when ttc. However I also have ovarian pain around
about the time i think i am about to ovulate. It could be that you have
had an anovulatory cycle and are going to ovulate later in your
cycle.Because of possible late ovulation, you might need to consider
doing a HPT later and maybe there was a possibility that your previous
tests were done too early, particularly if you feel that your ovarian
pain you are experiencing right now are familiar to what it feels like
around ovulation.
I am no doctor but you may want to do another test in a week, if still
negative maybe do another one the week after (especially if there is a
chance you could be ovulating now).

I think most HPT are sensitive to take any time of the day although i think its recommended that excessive drinking of fluids be avoided prior, just in case it dilutes the urine and give a misleading result. You may want to do the next test first thing in the morning as at least your urine will probably be more concentrated than during the day.

Personally if you feel this pain is a cause of concern, then i would go and make a visit to the doc's. HPts are reliable and accurate and most are very sensitive to detect HCG the day the period is due and in some instances a couple of days prior to expected period. Blood tests are probably more accurate.
