I have been surfing around (not much else to do, on bedrest) and I am seeing repeated references to how bad/scary/dangerous it is have an insulin dependent patient develop PIH. I can't seem to figure out what the actual complication is (other than the obvious dangers of PIH). Is there a different standard of management for IDDM patients that develop PIH/Pre-eclampsia... and most importantly, what IS the difference between PIH & PE? I have seen both in my chart.
