Every friend I've known that had a miscarriage was allowed an early ultrasound with their next pregnancy, just to set their mind at ease. And most of them had serial bhcg's done the first week, as well. I think it's quite crazy for your GP to expect you to wait another 4-5 weeks to hear a hearbeat, after what you've been through. If I were you, I would get a new doctor, or better yet, get hooked up with an OB or midwife for the rest of your prenatal care.

My very best wishes for you and your little baby. :)
