April, I am not a doctor, but I understand what you are going through. Well, with a blighted ovum your body will still produce hcg hormone, with out a fetus. However, You could have ovulate later than usual and concieved later which can mean that you were just to early at the time of the first ultrasound. Now, I had a simular experience, I went to the ER with brownish discharge and light bleeding, and when they did a ultrasound it show only a sac measuring 6 weeks and 4 days with yolk sac, no fetal pole, my hcg level was 23000, so I was told another blighted ovum. Well, 10 days later, hcg level of 35000 and baby with heartbeat. If I were you I would just relax because really there is nothing you can do but wait it out. I know that is easier said than done (i have had 2 miscarriages myself) I hope everything goes well. Let us know how the ultrasound turns out Lori 34 weeks and 5days
