Choroid plexus cysts are simply small cysts that have formed during development of the glandular stucture that is responsible for producing the normal fluid within all of our brains (cerebral spinal fluid). They develop like any cyst in glandular tissue. There is a form of obstruction from one or more of the glands and the fluid can't escape, producing a small cyst. For years we had quoted a 1% risk of chromosomal abnormalities associated with the presence of choroid plexus cysts. This has been shown to probably be to high of a percentage. The counseling does have to consider the size, whether there are more than one and are they on both sides of the brain. My suggestion would be to speak with a genetic counselor and determine if choromosomal testing is right for you. The best news is that if the babies are otherwise normal and have normal chromosomes, there are no long term problems associated with choroid plexus cysts-they cause no problems for the child throughout life...
