Jennifer,

I experienced something quite similar after a "missed miscarriage" and subsequent D & C last July. I bled fairly heavily for about three weeks. Unfortunately, the information sheet they gave me at the surgical center said that the bleeding should only last for about 3-5 days, so I went through a lot of panic, worry and grief until I spoke with my doctor and she reassured me that bleeding for longer periods of time is also within the norm. I also experienced passing large clots which was pretty scary at the time. But, the really good news is that eventually it DID stop, and after a few months I was back to normal. Now, my husband and I are trying to conceive again.

I know what you mean about not wanting to bother your doctor unneccesarily. I felt the same way, but sometimes you just need their reassurance. For them these things are routine, but for us as patients, it's often a pretty life altering experience. I wish you the best and will keep you in my prayers.
