I was prescribed paxil and it was a "wonder drug" for me- I was happy for the first time in my life. Several months ago I came off the paxil in order to TTC my third (and last) child. I have been having a VERY rough time....and am considering whether I need to go back on medication. The problem is, I am not ready to stop TTC. I have discussed medication during pregnancy with my OB and with two psychiatrists who seem to feel that paxil is "safe" during pregnancy. I've done quite a bit of research, and I'm not sure I agree. My understanding is that paxil is a relatively new drug- so that long-term effects of the drug on the foetus are just not known. Help! any advice? Thanks.
