Kidney Stone - 23 weeks pregnant, Dr.'s opinion needed

The next morning my urine was fine - but I still felt some pressure and back pain. That afternoon the blood in the urine happened again. After that, there was flecks of blood in the urine. I started drinking a ton of water because I thought it was an infection and I was trying to flush it out. This made the blood decrease.

That night when we left for dinner, I started walking and the pain in my back got so back I couldn't walk any more. I went back up to the hotel room and layed down. The pain was becoming very localized in my back on the right side. I decided to call my insurance's 800 number for a nurse. I describe everything to her and she recommended seeing someone ASAP.

We then went to the local hospital's ER. After about 4.5 hours - I was seen by the doctor. They tested my urine (which by now because of the water didn't have any blood in it) and there was no sign of bacteria or infection. They did an ultrasound and found a stone in my right kidney. The doctor briefly saw me and said I had a kidney stone, there wasn't much they could do because I am pregnant, and said it was basically a pain management thing. They gave me a shot of demerol that night and gave me a prescription for percocet.

I gave my OB/GYN a call the next morning and spoke to his nurse (he is on vacation). She gave me basically no information at all and said just to come in on my next visit. She said it wasn't pregnancy related. FYI: We went through infertility treatement with this dr. and it took us over 1.5 years to get pregnant (this is my first).

I am basically in the dark here. I understand that the ER doctor doesn't have a whole lot of time to sit down and explain this situation to me. But I feel that my doctor should. I have no idea how big this stone is. I don't know if I am going to pass it or if it is just going to stay there. The ER doctor said that these medications were fine for pregnancy but I don't feel right taking them. I am only taking the percocet when I absolutely need it. Plus, I can't drive when I take it.

Any information you could provide would be helpful. I want to know if all of this sounds right to you. And what you suggest should be done from now on. If you could point me in a direction to read up on this, I'd appreciate it. I have read some, but I don't know what happens when you are pregnant. Also, they never told me how big the stone was so I don't know if I am going to pass it or not.
