Pregnancy and Indocin (Indomethacin).From: Shah (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 22 Dec 2000 07:23:17 -0600 (CST)
I am 14wk3dy pregnant with twins and had a cervical cerclage placed yesterday. My OB has me on the anti-inflammatory, Indocin 25mg, 10 capsules to be taken over 3 days (I'm actually taking the generic, Indomethacin). I noticed the pharmacist "cautions" included that this medication is harmful to fetus. I called my pharmacist who said studies were inconclusive then called my OB who said harm to fetus w/Indocin is only if taken in high doses. Can you help clear this up for me? I am fearful of taking my next dose today with this kind of warning. Should I push for another anti-inflammatory or is this dosage safe? Thank you.
