Hello, I am not a doctor, but I have had a blighted ovum and It is where the baby doesn't form at all. If there is a a developed baby and it has stopped developeing than that is called a missed miscarriage. I have had two miscarriages. One was a blighted ovum and the other was a miss miscarriage. Also, I think the doctor is right to do another sonogram, with this pregnancy, I was told at the started that it was a blighted ovum the baby wasn't forming and my hcg levels were to high 23,000 the ultrasound showed a sac that measured 6 weeks and 4 days. Well, I was told to do another sono in about 7-10 days later, just to confirm that it was a blighted ovum. Well 10 days later, a baby measuring 7 weeks and 4 days and with heartbeat. See, I was 6 weeks at the time of the first ultrasound, I was told they were suppose to see a fetalpole and heartbeat. Well, I proved that to be wrong. He is now measuring about 4 weeks more than he is suppose to. If I were you I would go ahead and get the ultrasound done because sometimes it takes awhile for the baby to grow. And always remember that every child developes differently inside the womb. And there is still a chance. hope this helps lori 31 weeks 6 days
