Dr. Mcintosh could you please elaborate on the part of your answer to this message regarding HCG levels may not be useful this early in a pregnancy. I have wondered how accurate HCG levels are in very early pregnancies. I had a slowing in HCG rise at 10 days post embryo transfer and then they began to rise at a rapid rate. I had an ultrasound at 5wks and it showed a gestational sac that measured to be accurate for dates, however, there was no cardiac motion. I will go back in a week for a follow up. I have it in my mind that this is not going to pan out to be a normal pregnancy because of the slowing of the HCG's over the course of a 48 hour period. When I read this answer it has made me wonder, again, if you can rely on HCG levels in a 5-7 day old pregnancy??? Any information is helpful.
