39 wks and no sign of laborFrom: Melissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 12 Dec 2000 14:48:24 -0600 (CST)
Hi there, I am currently 39 wks pregnant with my second child. I went to the doctor today and the baby is still high, and I am not thinned out or dilated at all. The doctor wants to do a sonogram next week to make sure the baby is doing okay. My questions are: Is it normal for me not to show any signs of labor yet?? With my first child I was dilated to 2-3 cms and pretty thinned out by now and he had already dropped. What could be the cause of the baby not dropping yet? I am wondering if she is not too big, because the doctor thinks she is pretty big, bigger than my last baby who was 8 pounds 5 ounces. I have been having lots of braxton hicks the past few weeks, but they have obviously done nothing. Shouldn't they have done something by now? Thanks for your help.
