Medication before pregnancy - sporonoxFrom: Amber (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 5 Dec 2000 16:35:56 -0600 (CST)
I was prescribed Sporonox for toe-nail fungus. I will have to take it for 3months. Take for a week, be off for 3 and repeat for 3 months. I will be getting off of the pill in 3 months and trying to get pregnant. Can this medicine hurt a fetus? Even if I'm not taking it after 3 months? My concern is this: I was told that I probably wouldn't see any results on my toe for a year. Does that mean the medicine will stay in my system that long? What sort of long term side effects does it have that could potentially hurt an unborn child or cause me not to be able to get pregnant? This will be my first pregnancy. Besides my toe I am otherwise healthy, 30 years old.
