Could UTI cause period to be late? or interfere with pregnacy test results?

My period is two and a half months late. I had a pregnancy test done at the doctor’s office one month ago that came back negative. At the same time I was given the test I had a bad urinary tract infection. I was wondering if having an infection could in any way interfere with the test results, or with my not having a period? Should I go back and have the pregnancy test repeated? Or is it more likely that there is another cause for my period being this late?
